Oh Boy! He is growing up!

Posted on Updated on

Oh Yes! The signs of my little boy growing up are loud and clear… For example, every time I see a letter addressed to him when I open the mail box my heart skips a beat.. Off course he didn’t subscribe for National Geographic Kids or so in his name…. It was me who did it under his name.. But still…Oh Boy! He is growing up!

The conversations he has with us on a day-to-day basis on various topics just bowls me out…The way he understands issues, or for that matter other simple things just surprises me (or rather gives me a shock…) Sample questions range from “What is economy?”, “Why can’t sharks do that… this..” to “What is an exchange rate?”.

There are also many a times, he gets lost into the world of books, when he starts to read, sitting (actually, relaxing I guess..:P) on the swing, his favourite Geronimo or Beast Quest or I don’t know how ‘many’ th time his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, all signs tells me “Oh Boy! He is Growing Up!”

With all these happening all the time, as a  Mom, I am very proud of Yuvan (off-course I have stuff that I am not happy about with him.. that can follow in another post..) but I also know that this little boy of mine is fast growing up!

There are also questions like

  • “Are you Ok, Mom?”;
  • “Mom, do you think it’s not necessary and not worth it for this money?”, when I say ‘No’ to a toy or a silly book,
  • “Why are you all the time supporting other kids and asking me to adjust?, Don’t you love me more, amma?”

And few notable mentions like offering help at the grocery store in finding stuff from the shelves, carrying a few bags even without prompting, and not to forget the very many arguments of why and what…., I am cherishing every moment in his growing up!!!

And…. Yes! Oh Boy! He is growing Up!

PS: Does he look a bit dazed in the photo?  This photo was taken during the school break when he was recovering from a bad cough and fever:( But NGC Kids did cheer him up:)

A Friday Fix!!!

Posted on Updated on

Fridays have been fun days for us… It’s  been a practice for over an year or more that  Yuvan and myself at least go out for a McD dinner. It may range from play time outside  and dinner, or board games at home with a order-in dinner etc…

The week long break because of PSLE marking was not so great for us, as Yuvan fell sick with bad cough and fever and didn’t get to go to school on Friday, as I decided to let him stay home, get more rest and recover for the test week starting Monday…

So the million dollar question when I finished work yesterday was “Should we get our Friday fix?”  As he has recovered, I thought he needs a break and some fresh air and as well me..

Did some errands and we decided to go Ikea for some fun/shopping and wings fix!!!  He did have a good 45 minutes play time as I picked up some stuffs to make our Chillax corner at home more comfortable and bright.

Off we went to the restaurant and had our wings fix!!!

And to my surprise I just paid 10 cents!!! Why? Used up the 10 dollar voucher they gave me after I shopped and Yuvan got a discounted meal ‘cos of the Ikea SmalesSmile I did have my favourite Almond Cake tooo…

That was definitely an all in one Friday Fix!!!

Today was a day that I realised the growing up of Yuvan.. This pic below and the conversation he had with me and Eash today proved it even more!! Love you Yuvan!! But my little boy is growing up….

I felt happy

Posted on Updated on

or in other words relieved when Yuvan was chosen for this award ‘Speak Good English Ambassador’ in his school. Five students were chosen from each class who speak good English.

I really felt so happy to know that Yuvan has understood the importance of speaking Good English as I have been constantly reminding him and correcting (bugging) him religiously.

Well done Yuvan!! He won himself a ‘Speak Good English Ambassador’ Badge which he can proudly wear to school as well an environment friendly recycled paper notebook which he happily told me that he will be using to do his pencil drawings!

Kids are creative

Posted on Updated on

enough to the extent that they can invent an exciting game that could entertain them for hours together just with a pack of marbles and ‘n’ number of cups with their own rules and rules change every time!! Every time there is a rule change the game gets more exciting and the laughter gets louder. And the ever-present ‘scissors paper stone’ is played to decide who goes first!!

The kids these days are ever inspiring!!

Simple fun!!!

A little car fun at home brightened my evening/night just now. The amazing creativity to play as much as possible with his favorite cars and engaging himself with role play as a commentator of formula one racing and awarding the cars technically in various categories is simply awesome!!

When old friends get together

Posted on Updated on

it’s always fun and frolic!! And Yes! Yuvan had loads of fun at his friend Rabab’s birthday party hosted at Explorer Kids, Down Town east. We have always wanted to go there but somehow we have never been there before:( but I think that added to the fun!!! He also met his friend Eleanor, the three of their friendship dating back to N2-Montessori days.

The three musketeers had an awesome afternoon.
They had loads of fun trying Amazing Race within explorer kids and much more. They used the Mega play area to the fullest and they played their heart out so much so that I had to change his sweaty shirt right after the birthday party!!!

What else do they want if they have friends, an awesome place to play, nuggets and cake?

So will we go there again? Yes!! At least one more time as Yuvan is keen to explore the adventure course and the cliff which he didn’t get to do yesterday.

Pictures always speak volumes ..
